Whipped Body Butter
Whipped body butter is a nutrient rich cream that hydrates and protects the skin. What I love is that unlike lotions, there isn’t a water component so it isn’t prone to microbial growth. The butters can soften and hydrate the skin and because they are anti inflammatory they are ideal for red, dry and flakey skin.
Ingredients
‣30g Shea Butter
‣30g Cocoa Butter
‣30g Coconut Oil
‣30g Jojoba / Sweet Almond / Grapeseed / Rosehip / Sunflower [single oil or a combination of your favourites]
‣1 tbs of Arrowroot powder or Corn starch or Kaolin clay.
‣15 drops of essential oil.
Method
⚘ Add shea, cocoa butters and coconut oil to a glass jug and slowly heat in a small pan of water.
⚘ Once melted, turn off the heat and mix through your carrier oil/s of choice.
⚘ Gently stir and sit in the fridge or freezer for around an hour or until softly set/slightly firm.
⚘ Once set, use a whisk or hand blender/beater to gently work through your butter adding your dry ingredients and essential oils.
⚘ Store in a sterilised glass jar or container.
Notes
⤑ The carrier oils listed are light and have good absorption. Use one oil or a combination making up to 30g total.
⤑ The dry ingredients help with absorption – choose one to use.
⤑ If using Kaolin clay – use a wooden or plastic spoon and a silicone whisk, not metal.
⤑ Preservatives aren’t necessary although you can add a little vitamin E if you wish.
⤑ Should be used within 6 mths.
⤑ Store in a cool dry play out of direct sunlight.
